Name: Riker Blackadder
Age: 24
Species: Half human/ Half Kelpie
Celeb: Summer Glau
Personality: At first glance Riker has a fairly placid personality. But still waters run deep and all that. She's usually friendly and outgoing, but she has a darker side. And that way lies brooding and a fairly bloodthirsty bent. She gets on with everybody and takes a great deal of provocation to lose her temper but when she does her demonic heritage comes to the fore and she can be down right viscious.
Occupation: Unemployed former student, travelling after getting her MA in English
History: The Kelpie are a demonic race native to Scotland, and are the origon of the myth of the waterhorse/Gaurdians of the Loch stories. The Kelpie on the whole are an isolationist species and prey on sea/river creatures rather than humans. The species was created by the mages of Atlantis as a slave/warrior race. But they made the Kelpie too strong and the demons rose up against their masters and Atlantis was no more.
While Kelpie don't see humans as prey, they do look to them for other sports. Riker's mother Jenny was unfortunate to cross the path of one called R'ker-n't, who took a fancy to the pretty human and stole her to his lair for six months. Jenny Blackadder was returned to the shores of Loch Tay heavily pregnant, battered, starved and stark staring mad.
Her story of a water demon was discounted as the insane fantasy she used to cope with a normal rape/torture/kidnapping. And when 12 months later - Kelpan gestation lasts two years- Riker was born, she was taken into the care of her mothers brother and wife. Jenny spent the last years of her life in a high security 'mental health facility', before finally finding a way to end her torment when one of the guards left her unattended one night. She broke the mirror in her room and used one of the shards to slit her own wrists.
Riker new nothing of this and grew up believing that Alex and Rita Blackadder were her parents. Never wondering why she was so much faster and stronger than her peers. until she was sixteen and R'ker-n't arrived to claim his half breed child to be raised in the ways of the Kelpie.
Again a Blackadder woman disappeared for a year. And again she returned to the shores of Loch Tay. This time however, she was in full health and apparently in complete control of her mental facilities. Riker had lived umong her father's people and learned all she could from them. Enough to turn on her father and avenge her mother once and for all.
Riker never spoke to anyone bout what happened to her. And has since lived her life as a regular girl. Attending Aberdeen university and attaining an MA degree in English. She was travelling the world. Starting in America. And now finds herself trapped there. Using all the skills for war her father taught her to survive.
Being half Kelpie isn't without its advantages. She's strong enough to throw a car if the occasion calls for it. Can run faster and longer than any human. And her body is built to survive the pressures and darkness of the ocean. She can see and hear and smell pretty much everything for miles. And heals rapidly.
Anything Else: not off the top of my head. Isn't that enough?

Riker winced as she shouldered open the door of the flat she had taken over for the night. Ever since whatever happened happened she hadn't spent more than one night in the same place. And concidering the amount of blood that she had trailed behind on her way up here she would have to move again after she had recovered.
Faint rays of daylight filtered through the blinds as she awkwardly shored the door shut with the heavy armoir she had found in the bedroom. It wouldn't stop any of the bigger nasties but it would delay tham enough for her to either escape or get ready to fight. Fortunately though the worst of them seemed to stay underground during the daylight hours so she would hopefully be able to rest up before moving on again.
Sighing she stumbled over to the pile of various bits of fabric and clothing she had used to form a makeshift bed and dropped down wearily. She gave a moments thought to cleaning the varios cuts and lacerations. But experience had taught her they would be healed up by about mid-day.
Even the worst one. A long, deep cut down her back where that thing had ripped with its claws after leaping on her back. Would probably be no more than an ache and twinge as she moved about. Rolling onto her front she settled down to dose as best she could. Next time she'd make sure she ate well before dusk.
"All this f'r a tuna sandwich!" She grumbled to herself before closing her eyes for some much needed rest.
